Cheers! Michelmores supports St Austell brewery in pub investment
The Leisure & Tourism team at Michelmores Solicitors has recently acted for St Austell Brewery in a £1m investment to refurbish the Old Market Pub in Brixham.
The 200 year-old Grade II listed building has been developed into a food-led family venue which opened for business in September 2011 creating 30 new jobs and establishing local supply chains. The venue can accommodate approximately 260 people with extensive outdoor seating overlooking Brixham's historic harbour.
The Brewery teamed up with locally based Nirvana Properties to make the investment and acquire the lease from Torbay Council before beginning the "sympathetic" redevelopment project in May.
Annelie Carver, Head of Michelmores' Leisure & Tourism Group, said: "St Austell Brewery has an established reputation for making shrewd investments in its estate to provide modern standards and high quality while maintaining each property's individual character.
"Brixham is a top destination for tourists and while the 'staycation' is on the increase, investing in an historic pub in such a location looks to be a very good move indeed."
