The Challenge

The world's leading global telecommunications provider approached us with multi-million pound debts to recover from debtors based around the globe, including numerous accounts in Africa where recoveries are known to be demanding. We were asked to provide an effective, cost efficient and commercially sensitive recoveries solution.

The Process

The key to our success was our broad understanding of jurisdictional obstacles allowing us to overcome many of the difficulties inherent in collecting debt from overseas. 

By adopting an approach based on clear financial and management information gathered about each debtor, and by liaising with our local network of overseas agents, we began issuing targeted 'letters before action'.

In cases where payment was not secured after initial contact, it became necessary to issue a claim. We ensured, so far as possible, that the company being pursued had the means to pay the debt owed. This meant that we were able to provide reliable advice to our client, enabling them to make the best commercial decisions on an informed basis.

The Results

Due to our success rates and the close relationship that developed, we have continued to work with our client for a number of years.

We have recovered millions of pounds of debt through pre-litigation collections or legal action, and on a number of occasions we have successfully negotiated payment plans and/or renegotiated contracts, ensuring that our client's financial position has been protected whilst preserving the ongoing relationship with their customer.
