Thornton is a partner in the Property Group dealing with all aspects of property work but with particular expertise in development, infrastructure, renewables and planning levies. He has acted on some of the largest recently undertaken mixed use developments including Daventry International Rail Freight Terminal, The Printworks in Manchester and Portwall Place in Bristol. Thornton has a particular interest in the Community Infrastructure Levy and the provision of infrastructure generally. He is also a member of the Leisure and Tourism Sector team.
Thornton sits on the Investment Panel of the South West Regional Infrastructure Fund and was a founding director of a Business Improvement District company in Birmingham (created under the Local Government Act 2004). Formerly Head of Development at Hammonds LLP and based in their Birmingham office, he has recently relocated to the South West and his interests include boating, sailing, tennis and motorsport.
