    The rate of Stamp Duty Land Tax ("SDLT") payable on purchases of residential property where the price exceeds £1,000,000 will rise from 4% to 5% on 6 April 2011. The 5% rate will apply to the whole of the purchase price and not just the sum which is in excess of £1,000,000.
