The team deal with all aspects of the life of the Dioceses of Exeter and of Truro in relation to the law. This includes matters relating to clergy and their ministry, the synodical system of church government at all levels and the faculty jurisdiction relating to churches and churchyards. They also advise the Bishops in all matters relating to the two Dioceses. Michelmores act for the Boards of Finance of both Dioceses and so deal with anything relating to their property which includes parsonage houses, glebe property, churches, schools and property belonging to parochial church councils. We have dealt with a number of large redevelopment projects concerning unlisted churches involving the demolition of the church and the redevelopment of the site to include housing, commercial and community property and a new church.

A partner of Michelmores has been the Diocesan Registrar of the Diocese of Exeter since 1918 and throughout that period Michelmores has acted for the Exeter Diocesan Board of Finance Limited.

Martin Follett has acted as Diocesan Registrar for the Diocese of Truro since 1983 and Diocesan Registrar of the Diocese of Exeter since 2007. He has a long and wide experience of all aspects of ecclesiastical law and is very committed to the Church and its mission.

Chris Butcher is the Deputy Registrar of the two Dioceses. Chris was Registrar of the Diocese of Chichester for four years and has been Deputy Registrar of Exeter since 2004.

Alan Barr has been the Registry Manager of the Exeter Registry since 1969 and the Truro Registry since 2007 and his knowledge of the Diocese of Exeter over that period is unrivalled.

The two Dioceses consist of approximately 750 parishes and over 1000 churches.
