Record–breaking polar explorer to address Exeter businesses

Polar explorer and internationally acclaimed motivational speaker Ann Daniels is to be the guest speaker at the Michelmores Business Breakfast on Friday 11 December.

Mother of four and former Women of the Year, 45 year-old Ann was this year asked by fellow arctic explorer, Pen Hadow, to be his head of ice operations for the ground-breaking Catlin Arctic Survey, a project studying the rapidly disappearing frozen Arctic Ocean. Ann was responsible for leading the team on the ice and finding a safe route, making difficult decisions in the most extreme environment on Earth for 74 consecutive days.

Ann, who lives in Whimple in Devon, is also the first woman in history, along with expedition teammate Caroline Hamilton, to reach the North and South Poles as part of all-women teams.

Michelmores' head of marketing Louise Edwards said: "Ann is a truly remarkable woman and an inspiration to us all. We are delighted to have her as a speaker at the Michelmores Business Breakfast and I'm sure her achievements will ensure we have a packed audience."

Also speaking at the Breakfast will be Christopher Knee, Chief Executive of St Loye's Foundation, the Exeter-based charity which specialises in training disabled people and those with long term health issues in readiness for work.

The Michelmores Business Breakfast begins at 8.30 am on Friday 11 December at Exeter Golf & Country Club on Topsham Road.  A percentage of the £18.50 ticket price will go to St Loye's Foundation and anyone interested in attending should contact Sarah Coleman at Michelmores on 01392 688688 or sarah.coleman@michelmores.com
