Announcement follows Michelmores appointment to Surrey local authority consortium

Exeter-based Michelmores LLP is amongst sixteen firms nationwide to be appointed to the legal panel of the London Boroughs Legal Alliance (LBLA).

The LBLA was established to drive down external costs and increase efficiency by adopting inter-authority working practices and shared service arrangements.

The panel firms will advise six London boroughs: Camden, Harrow, Hammersmith & Fulham, Hillingdon, Hounslow and the Royal Borough of Kensington & Chelsea .

In addition to Michelmores, the panel includes: Ashfords, Bevan Brittan, Browne Jacobson, Creightons, Devonshires, Dickinson Dees, EMW Picton Howell, Geldards, Moon Beever, Sharpe Pritchard, TLT and Weightmans.

Firms are appointed for three years and Michelmores will be advising the LBLA on contracts, procurement and outsourcing, information law and employment.

Michelmores' Partner Carol McCormack said: "We are delighted to be appointed by the London Boroughs Legal Alliance.

"Our extensive experience of working with public sector bodies across the country ensures that we fully recognise the importance of supporting our local authority clients during the current economic climate, when their workloads are increasing and budgets shrinking.

"The appointment reflects our commitment to providing the best legal services for the best price as measured by our local authority clients."

Michelmores has also recently won a four year appointment to advise a Surrey consortium comprising the County Council and 11 Borough and District Councils.

The areas of law include local government practice and procedures, commercial, construction, procurement, litigation and property.
