Conservative peer and former cabinet minister Lord Parkinson addressed financial services sector chief executives yesterday at Painter's Hall, London. The event was organised by the Financial Services & Markets team at Michelmores LLP, a commercial law firm that provides legal services to the sector.

Philip Ryley, Head of Financial Services & Markets team at Michelmores said: "Lord Parkinson was at the heart of government during the 80s and held several senior ministerial positions, including Secretary of State for Trade & Industry, for Energy and for Transport. 

"Lord Parkinson has been very generous to give us a thought provoking talk on the issues troubling Parliament, the ineffectiveness of regulation and the state of the UK economy today.  It has been very interesting for us to hear from someone with nearly 40 years of well informed political and economic insight."

The next lunch is scheduled for 20th October, with Doctor Vince Cable MP, the Liberal Democrats' Shadow Chancellor.
