ILEX launches new branch in Devon – Michelmores to host official launch event

The Institute of Legal Executives (ILEX), the national professional body which represents 22,000 trainee and practicing Legal Executive lawyers throughout England and Wales, is to open a Devon Branch in November.

The official launch of the Devon branch of ILEX will take place at the offices of Michelmores LLP at Woodwater House, Pynes Hill, Exeter on Saturday 21 November, to start at 2.30pm when members of the local Legal Profession will be joined by the Lord Mayor of Exeter, the President and Chairman of ILEX, and the Chief Prosecutor of the Crown Prosecution Service for the local area.

Officers of the new branch were elected in a pre-launch meeting and included Mark Stokes from Hooper & Wollen (Torquay) as Chairman, Alison Starkey of Michelmores LLP (Exeter) as Vice Chair, Emma Strudwick from Rundlewalker (Exeter) as Treasurer, and Donna Hart from Hartnell Chanot & Partners (Exeter) as Secretary.  

Mark Stokes said: "It is a major coup for the South West that we are able to establish a branch of ILEX covering the whole of Devon. The organisation is widely respected and is acknowledged for the quality of support and training it brings to its members' career development."

The Institute of Legal Executives (ILEX) is a professional body which represents 22,000 trainee and practicing Legal Executive lawyers throughout England and Wales. It offers career support, education and training to its members while maintaining professional standards of conduct. It is recognised by the Ministry of Justice as one of the three core routes to becoming a qualified lawyer. Legal Executives are lawyers who have gained their qualifications through studying and working at the same time allowing them to gain practical experience while qualifying.
