The team has evolved from:

• the substantial landed client base which Michelmores has built up over the years from their Cathedral Yard offices;
• the arrival of Chris Close and Adrian Miller, adding substantially to the firm's land and farm practice in their expertise and client followings;
• the growth in size of farm enterprises and a shift in their principal characteristic from a way of life to a business, needing a broader range of legal skills;
• the movement away from this type of work by many legal practitioners, and
• an enthusiasm for agricultural law and landed estates work with a new generation of lawyers arriving at Michelmores.

The team works principally for farmers and landowners on land transactions but, by drawing on firm wide skills, advises on planning, taxation, partnerships, limited companies, environmental law, tenancy issues, borrowing, dispute resolution, childcare problems, relationship breakdowns, trusts, Will preparation, probate administration and disputes, and links with the practice's leisure and development land teams.
